Wildfires Force Prison Evacuation, Threaten Communities

A Colorado prison was evacuated due to the Lee wildfire, one of the state’s largest, which has burned over 167 square miles. 179 inmates were safely relocated. The fire, fueled by strong winds and low humidity, is only 6% contained. Air quality warnings are in effect due to smoke. Meanwhile, in California, the Canyon fire is 62% contained after destroying seven structures and injuring three firefighters, while the Gifford fire, the state’s largest this year, continues to burn.
